ThiruVengada Perumal Temple management has organized bhajans and music class for children every Saturday. Devotees who are willing to join their children for the carnatic bhajan classes are requested to contact the temple management.

Bhajans are a means of getting nearer to God. Where there is devotional music, God is always at hand with His gracious presence.

Bhajans are simple songs in soulful language, with origins in the ancient hymns of the Vedas, expressing the many emotions of love and devotion to God. Shlokas are short Sanskrit verses, often metered and rhymed poetic syllables in praise of God.

The objective of conducting this event regularly :

  • To generate interest among children and youth in the recitation of various shlokas and bhajans with emphasis on pronunciation.
  • To help the children and youth understand the meaning and importance of shlokas and bhajans in the Indian Culture
  • To help students perform and/or showcase their bhajan/shloka rendition at their own homes, family gatherings or community events.
  • To gain concentration in this spiritually dark age (Kali yuga), Bhajan is better than meditation. By loud singing, other distracting sounds will be overcome and concentration will be achieved. Bhajan is a spiritual discipline aimed at concentrating the mind of one's beloved deity. Through that one pointedness, one can merge in the divine being and experience the bliss of the one's true-self.
